Objectives of the selection committee

The selection process should ensure a balanced team that will ensure victory at the same time ensuring that every member of the CACA team gets a fair chance to play.

The following selection process is a guideline only. There will be exceptions to this process, but it should be rare and in genuine cases. For the most part, the selection committee will adhere to this process to maintain consistency and fairness to the CACA team members.

Selection Process

  • Member must be a current member of CACA. In an event where not enough current members available to make up the team, selection committee could include unpaid members to make up the team.
  • Members must be available to play the schedule game. When a poll is created, members must vote using poll before it closes. If poll is not created, members must inform his availability by calling one of the selection committee members.
  • Performance, discipline and commitment on the filed are also very important. Selection committee members will select players based on their performance, discipline and commitment evaluated during practices, practice matches, or league games. Some examples of discipline are coming to game and practices on time, following game and practice routine, etc. Examples of commitment are helping teams in tasks such as umpiring, scoring, packing team kits, volunteering for pre-game tasks and volunteering for the 12th man position, etc.
  • Members must be willing to travel for games that are outside of Central Arkansas area.
  • Members that have attended practice sessions will be given higher priority over the members that have not attended the practice sessions.
  • Selection committee will pick 12 players from the list of available players for the game. The 12th man will be selected first for the next game that player is available. If the 12th man is can not come to the game for any reason, the player must play as a 12th man during the next time that player is available to play a game.
  • Selection committee will try to rotate every member of the club thru the 12th man position, irrespective of the talent & balance they bring to the side.
